On the eve of his first appearance on Pushing Daisies, Paul Reubens talks a little bit about the show and how he got there:

The show’s devotees have been buzzing about reasons for the recasting, especially since photos of Reubens as Alfredo were leaked months ago to several fan sites. After being asked directly if he’d shot scenes as Alfredo, which were presumably scrapped later, Reubens finally says, “You know, I was told not to talk about it.”

Then he laughs softly and adds, “I don’t think there’s some big ultra-secret behind it or anything. I think they just wanted to go a different way once they had already discussed it with me. And for me, the good news was there was another part that has turned out to be better.”
