Some say it runs in the family, but for ten-year-old Field Cate there is no denying it…acting is in his blood. Field’s great-grandmother provided the first voice of Minnie Mouse, and his great-aunt Esther Ralston was a silent movie actress who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

With roots in Los Angeles, Field’s family left the East Coast for L.A. shortly before his fifth birthday. Having already appeared in a number of children’s theater productions, Field enrolled in improvisation classes and began to perform weekly onstage. A year later, he turned his love of acting into a professional career. Field signed with an agency and began booking print work, independent/short films, industrials, music videos (including the lead in Placebo’s “Song to Say Goodbye”), and commercials. He even appeared alongside baseball star Ichiro in a commercial for a Japanese energy drink. It wasn’t long before Field landed roles in television on NBC’s Passions and TLC’s Untold Stories of the ER, and Guest Starred on Without a Trace for CBS.

Field is now a series regular on the new, critically acclaimed ABC TV show Pushing Daisies, playing the role of “Young Ned” (nine-year-old version of actor Lee Pace). When asked what it’s like working on Pushing Daisies, Field’s face lights up. “It’s an amazing experience. I get to work with all these awesome people, like Bryan Fuller and Barry Sonnenfeld, and a dog named Orbit. Everyone on the show is really talented, and I’m learning so much. The sets are very cool, and I love my character’s special abilities…being able to touch dead things and people, and bring them back to life!”

When Field isn’t working, he loves playing video games, reading manga books, hanging out with his friends, and playing with his little brother, Springer. He also participates regularly in musical theater and karate.
