Molly Shannon (”Saturday Night Live,” “Evan Almighty”) And Michael White (”The School of Rock”) Guest Star

“Bitter Sweets” - A vindictive taffy shop owner (guest star Molly Shannon as Dilly Balsam) sets up shop down the street from The Pie Hole, determined to drive Ned out of business by any means necessary, on “Pushing Daisies,” WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Writer/actor Michael White (”The School of Rock,” “The Good Girl”) guest stars as Dilly’s brother, Billy.

Editors note: This program replaces the episode of “Private Practice” which had been scheduled.

“Pushing Daisies” stars Lee as Ned, Anna Friel as Chuck, Chi McBride as Emerson Cod, Ellen Greene as Vivian, with Swoosie Kurtz as Lily and Kristin Chenoweth as Olive Snook. Jim Dale is the narrator. Guest starring in “Bitter Sweets” are Molly Shannon as Dilly Balsam, Michael White as Billy Balsam, Field Cate as young Ned, Sy Richardson as the coroner, Raul Esparza as Alfredo, Nicholas Khayyat as Eugene, Reginald Veneziano as Tony, Abbe Meryl as Tina and Michael Cornacchia as Burly Bruce. “Bitter Sweets” was written by Abby Gewanter and directed by Allan Kroeker.

Added 10.23.07 The Balsams, who run the Bitter Sweets Sweets Emporium, attempt to shut down The Pie Hole, which leads to an accidental death, which leads to Ned spending time in jail.

Added 10.19.07 This is the episode in which Molly Shannon’s character, Dilly Balsam, first appears. Dilly is a taffy-puller at the new candy store.

Added 10.18.07 Emerson, Ned and Chuck investigate the death of Tony DiNapoli, who appears to have been strangled by a woman. However, when Ned brings Tony back to life to find out killed him, Tony claims it was Burly Bruce Carter, via the hands of his “girlfriend” who is a real doll. Meanwhile, business at the Pie Hole drops off when a new candy store opens in town, and Alfredo continues to pursue an oblivious Olive who, herself, continues to pine after the Pie Maker.
