Emerson and Simone (from episode 1.06) attempt to rekindle the romance that started to kindle when Emerson was investigating Simone’s husband’s death. Unfortunately, another death interrupts. Rollie Stingwell, not Emerson’s favorite person and owner of the Papen County Dam, has been robbed and murdered, and his widow wants Emerson to find out what happened. Mrs. Stingwell and Emerson have a history - which is why Mr. Stingwell and Emerson were not on the best of terms - but it was another woman in Emerson’s life who is accused of the murder and robbery of the dam owner.

Olive finds herself charmed by Randy, the taxidermist we met in 2.04, and decides that perhaps she should take a chance with him. Randy is charmed right back.
